Steeplechasing

Camden, SC is labeled the "Steeplechase Capital of the World." And with that in mind, we have access to top of the line facilities to keep your jumper fighting fit.

We can train your hurdle or timber horse and campaign them throughout the season.

Colonial Downs is an easy ship and we take advantage of its summer/fall meet. They card races over jumps for the steeplechase horses, as well as dirt and turf races for the flat horses.

Breaking

Send us your young horses to be broken. Both Nancy and Jason have a long history of breaking babies. It is a passion they both share, and they enjoy taking the time to give your horse a good start.

We believe young horses need to learn the basic fundamentals before advancing. We don't subscribe to a factory approach to breaking babies. Each horse has a program tailored to its needs and ability to progress. They are given an education to help them succeed in racing as well as their future endeavors.

Facilities

Springdale Racecourse

Springdale has a lot to offer the steeplechase horse. It has two dirt tracks - the largest being 1 1/16 miles and the smallest being 5/8ths (which has a starting gate). It also has a multitude of turf gallops making it an ideal place to train turf horses. There are infields that can be utitlized for figure-8s and right handed gallops. These infields also contain a vast range of steeplechase fences starting with basic rolls and logs, and escalating to full-sized fences. It is a great place to teach the new jumper. There is also "Hunter Trial Hill" which is a grass hillside with more natural type fences.

Hunt Country

Hunt Country is over a thousand acres of wooded trails with natural jumps (aikens, logs, coops, etc) scattered along the trails. It is a great place to go for long jogs and is a relaxed setting to help the horse to unwind. Our farm is located right along this beautiful resource.
